Univar Agricultural Division

History
The 1958 purchase of Commercial Chemicals Ltd. brought agricultural chemicals into Univar product lines and the Agricultural Supply Department, forerunner of the Agricultural Division was established. Crop Protection products were sold in B.C. and in the early 1960's a plant was built in Abbotsford to manufacture animal feed supplement premixes.

The registration of Treflan(R) for weed control in canola provided the opportunity to enter the Prairie crop protection market as distributor to independent agri retailers. The 1987 acquisition of King Agri-Serve greatly expanded the product lines and services offered and made Univar a national agricultural distributor with facilities and representation from coast to coast. The 1993 purchase of the Wilbur-Ellis agricultural distribution business further consolidated Univar's position as the premier distributor to the independent agricultural retailer.

Univar Services
Univar provides crop protection and micronutrient products and services to the cereal, oilseed, specialty crop and horticultural markets as well as related specific seed varieties. The Company provides segments of the crop protection industry with storage and logistics services through the Fort Storage and DIRECTLink business units. Products for vegetation management in forestry, industrial sites and rights-of-way are provided by TrueNorth Speciality Products.

Univar supplies feed ingredients to animal feed manufacturers across the country.
